Got a slow start to the day as it was very cold. Sunrise was quite striking over the ridge as we woke up and got our things together. Because it was cool out, we began the day hiking with our long johns and raincoats on in addition to our regular hiking clothes. It did eventually warm up and we shed our layers by mid-morning.
We went into the town of Windgap, where we had a pizza lunch. Beardo also got a second ankle brace. He had moved the one for his sprained ankle over to his shin splint leg to hold the muscle tight to the bone. His sprained ankle was getting sore and giving some sharp pains from all the rocks on the trail in PA. He has two robo legs now, but the legs feel better.
We ended up spending too much time in town, so that by the time left it was about 4pm. Saw several other southbound hikers when we got headed up the trail. Also saw a porcupine right on the trail in front of us. After making some noise, he began to crawl up a tree right next to the trail, so we ended up bushwacking around him.
Not quite as cold out tonight as we head to bed. We both have dry socks again (was sunny today) so we should sleep better.
