Had a short day of hiking. Just a couple hours in the am and the made it to White House Landing, which is a sort of hiker hostel on a lake here in the hundred mile wildness.
The location is excellent with a beautiful of the lake. To get to the hostel, one walks off the trail about 1 mile to an air horn mounted to a tree across the lake from the hostel. The owners then come over in a boat to retrieve the travel weary hiker.
The hostel serves pizza and burgers so they are a popular stop along the way. This is also the only place to stop and buy resupply food in the hundred mile wilderness (which is closer to 115 without the ability to resupply) .
We got to the hostel at a bit past 11am and stayed the night. The weather was outstanding and it was nice to relax the afternoon away in the chairs down at the water, get a shower and do some laundry.
In the evening we had more good grub, and played some cards with another thru hiker, Vesuvio.
