Got a slow start as we knew that we were only hiking to the next water source, just under 20 miles away. Slept decent last night despite some strong winds. There were 9 of us camped near that water source.
Hiked pretty steadily for the morning and then stopped for four hours during the height of the heat. Probably the warmest day or second warmest day on the trail thus far. For our ling break, we just hung out under some short trees that provided reasonable shade. There was a bit of a breeze as well, which made it nearly comfortable. It is always tricky to get comfy on the bare ground. I think I dozed a couple times.
Leap flogged the same hikers all day as we took our breaks at different times. Hikers that we saw today were Mother Goose (who has hiked the AT 5 times), Upside Down, Alphabet Soup, Dirty Brown, Three Bears, and Ant Eater (aka. Right Click, who we met on the AT).
Sleeping at over 6000′ tonight, but it is fairly warm…have a great view of the mountains from our cowboy camp spot. I think there 8 of us in the area tonight. our group of four is camped in what appears to be an old cellar hole..at least it is flat and has a good view.
