Started the day with a walk up to a ridge where we remained for some time. The wind was cold up on top of the mountain ridge and we were hoping for sunlight per the forecast. We only got a glimpse of sunlight for less than an hour for the day, unfortunately.
Walking on rock slabs for quite a while while on the ridge which made our pace a bit slow. The wind had dried off the rocks, which was good.
Up on the ridge, we crossed the Eastern Continental Divide.
After we descended from the ridge, we had some nice pastoral views…some with more cows and a burrow. We had expected Virginia to be less mountains and more farm, and were delighted to see a bit of the farmish type landscape today.
Just one other hiker today on the trail.
Rained in the afternoon and was enough for our feet and pants to get wet again. A real bummer as we had started to have dry shoes after wearing them all day. Now….they are wet…..and cold.
No other hikers at the shelter tonight..just Mace in the shelter and us hammocking.
