Windy night, with moon very bright. It was so bright that I could see color as well as read the print on my water bottle lying beside me. I slept good, despite my air mattress losing air quite quickly. I ended up folding it in thirds and just putting it under my hip bone to get some padding and getting back to sleep.
Beautiful walking this morning. We had cool temps and blue skies with some wind, felt really good. Excellent views for the hole day of walking.
Today was much like yesterday in that we walked the majority of the miles to the next water and then hung out with a big group of hikers at the water source for a few hours before moving on (and making a big climb) to our campsite.
Again at the water, there was a trail angel with sodas and snacks. We have been in a really really good stretch of trail magic…we are getting spoiled. there was a picnic bench and chairs, which feel surprisingly good.
Was great to hang out with the hikers at the water….let’s see if I can remember everyone. Bobcat, Last on the Bus, Houdini, Scout, Robin Hood, Frank, Macho Taco, Golden Boy, Hallmark, Yankee Son, Wade, Garden Gnome, Power nap, Cristo, Quest, Fairway,Bronco Jim, Just Retired and about five others that I am blanking on their trail names at the moment. The names are always funny…trail names are great.
Tonight we are camped in a little saddle where two ridges meet. It is very windy again and there are some dark clouds, so we all set up our tents. Tonight at the site it is the four of us in our group, with Garden Gnome.
Temps should be good tomorrow and the next day for our walk into Kennedy Meadows and the end of the desert.
