Below, you will find links to our favorite trail photos. Many are landscape, many are friends. We make these collections both for the enjoyment of friends, family and folks that are interested in the trail itself – be they fellow hikers or trail angels. These photos are similar to our journals in that we know there is some small niche of humanity that may take interest, but they are also for us. The photos are our albums that we can look back on and remember the sites and the people of each of our hiking experiences.
We are not photographers, and do not usually carry any dedicated cameras in our hiking, at least not as of the winter of 2016. All of our trail photos have been taken on cell phones, namely a 2011 HTC Desire, a 2013 Motorola M, and a 2015 Motorola Moto X most recently. SweetPea now has an iPhone (thanks Mtn Man!), so that will probably be contributing in the future as well. Thankfully, the cameras on mobile phones keeps improving and if you peruse a few of the photo pages, you will see the quality of color and light handling increase.
*Update Fall 2017 – Beardoh now has an iPhone as well and the Mississippi River Trip photos are largely from the iPhone.
**Update 2018 – Most photos from our 2018 hikes were shot on a Canon G7X Mark II. This is a nice little camera and we think our photos have been better during this season.
***Update 2020 – We are now using iPhones ( SE, XR, 12 Pro, & 13 Pro) for photos. The photos from the latest cellphones are outstanding. At the moment, we see no reason to carry an additional camera.
