Today was our biggest day thus far. We got a late start after a great breakfast at white house landing. Hit the trail well after 9am, but managed to squeeze in over 22 miles. Walked a lot of the day with Alex and Vesuvio. We had set a goal of the East Branch Shelter for the day and made it, but we were all pretty beat by the time we got here.
There are a lot people at the shelter area tonight…13 or so. Many in tents and three of us in hammocks. It isn’t necessary at all to stay near the shelters, especially with our hammocks that can be hung in a variety of places, but the shelters have been good goals to aim for and nice places to talk with other hikers. There are also trail registers at each of the shelters where hikers usually write a paragraph or so. We can see who is where amongst those that we have met. Will have to take a photo of the shelters and add it in here in the journal.
