After yesterdays long miles, we slept in and had a late start after 9am. It rained over night but we stayed dry in the hammocks.
The weather was sunny, humid but not hot for most of the day. We stopped for a long late breakfast at a lake, and a long lunch was had at Pollywog overlook, which is a big gulch where we sat near the cliff edge and enjoyed the view. With the weather so nice, the long breaks were great. Trail was very muddy at the beginning of the section we were on today. The 100 mile wilderness is noted for being quite soupy at this time of year and it certainly is on many sections. We also walked through a lot beautiful moss laden forest. These seem to appear on mtn sides where there are a lot confers and very little undergrowth.
There is a group of 7 of us here at the Wadleigh Stream lean-to tonight. We are in our hammocks about 300 yards from the shelter, but hung out with the rest of the group at the shelter at dinner time to socialize. All of us here are southbounders ( Alex, Kat, Emily, Danny, Lewis and us). Thanks to Emily and Kat for giving Sweetpea an ace bandage for her knee.
Only past 3 northbounders today.
Tomorrow we head for White House Landing, which is a hostel on a lake. They are reputed to have great pizza and burgers we look forward to that. Will also get resupply there and most likely stay the evening, making the day a mellow day with just 8.4 miles.
