Got our ride back to the trail from trail angel Lloyd after our resupply in Redmond. Thanks Lloyd for being available for us and coming over to out of the way Redmond!
Nice climb to start the day. Great mix of walking in the shade in the afternoon, but the morning was quite exposed. Walked through a lot of spots that still had snow. Walked through a lot of burn area as well. Before the fire, this area would have all been shady walking.
Real nice views of the surrounding mountains. In the late afternoon, we could see smoke from a fire that is not too far from us, but on the opposite side of the mtn. Hopefully it runs out of steam before long. Speaking of fires, there have been at least 3 that have affected PCT hikers this year. We have always been just a few weeks in front of them, but these sections are now closed, so the PCT thruhikers will have to go around them if they haven’t made it through those sections yet.
Tonight it is the four of us, Udi, Fairway and Moonshine in camp. We had a small fire so I cooked up a Ramen that I had found in the hiker box at Big Lake Youth Camp yesterday….nice little add-on of hot food.
Lots of weekenders out in this area. Several around the lake that we are camped at tonight, and stopped and talked with a bunch that were on trail today as well.
