Slept well last night. It was cool, just cool enough for good sleep. One of the guys camping with us was sick overnight and I heard him get up to throw up. He seemed to be doing fine by the morning though.
Much of the walking was through lava field rock. This was pretty difficult walking and quite slow to traverse uphill. Nice views of the Sisters group of mountains as well as Mt Washington and other mtns. In the distance we could see Mt Hood.
In a dry stretch, there was a water cache that had soda and gatorade, a nice and unexpected surprise.
We crossed the 2000 mile mark just after noon. Udi, JJ and Wolfpack and I got our shoe picture with the stone marker. Just 655 miles remain on our journey. Hard to be believe we are over 3/4 done.
We were headed to Big Lake Youth Camp for resupply today. Our friends from the AT, Purple and Carnivore, met us at the camp and had some great trail magic waiting. We had subs and potato salad and juice, cookies….wonderful to walk out of the woods and enjoy that food and catch up with them. We slackpacked another 5 miles and then they brought us down to Redmond where we got a couple motel rooms for the 6 of us. Thanks so much guys! It is the four of us in my normal gang and Udi and Fairway in town. Real good group.
I got my new shoes today and am pretty thrilled about it. Feet were feeling better quickly as we did the 5 mile slackpack in about an hour.
Another great day on the trail.
