Started with a climb and then walking along a rocky ridge, which was similar to the loose large rock walking in parts of PA…unpleasant.
Met a trail maintenance and the regional ATC rep as they were taking a look at this section of trail and doing an inventory of what may need to be fixed.
Great trail through rhododendrens in the early afternoon and climb up to a ridge where we spent the rest of the day. Temperatures warmed up in the afternoon as we were climbing up to the ridge, and we were in shortsleeves for a while.
We hiked a longer day and stopped right as it was getting dark. Did extra miles today in the hopes of getting into the hostel a bit earlier.
Dinner was a hodgepodge of food as we didn’t have enough water, nor the desire to cook our normal dinner and wait for it to rehydrate. We ate cheese with tortillas and peanut butter and dry oatmeal. It was surprisingly good.
Stealth camping up on a ridge where we can see town lights and stars. Very cool and clear tonight.
