Excellent sleep last night. For both of us, it was the most restful sleep since we left Wisconsin. The wind calmed down in the evening and it was quiet and cool.
Most folks at the Warner Springs resource center were picking up packages at the post office this morning. Beardoh ended up getting a ride to and from the PO with the local Sheriff. We got our food sorted, talked with some other hikers and rolled out when our friend Lid got back from the PO.
We walked in blue skies for the entire day. It was pretty warm and we enjoyed a few breaks under the shade. Met some new hikers during these breaks as well. XL, 42,Sam, Dirty B and a few others. Hung out with Shane from WV during one of the breaks as well.
Lots of climbing during the day, and a lot of that climbing in exposed terrain. Juniper trees and Manzanita were pretty prominent once we got over 1000 feet above Warner Springs. We saw 3 snakes as well today. 1 water snake, and two other non rattlesnakes. A bunny too.
Tonight we are camped at Mike Herrera’s place. Mike opens up his yard to hard hikers to camp and relax at. This is also a key place for water in a dry stretch. We rolled in around 6:30 this evening and had a couple pieces of freshly brick oven baked pizza handed to us on arrival. A very nice treat. We also caught up to a bunch of people that we have been enjoying hanging out with : Proton, XC, X Men, Mountain Man, Ace, Gazelle and some others. Right now, some music is playing out of the garage and a few people are still up. In total, there is probably over 30 people here.
Waterless day tomorrow. Aiming to get out by 6am.
