Daily Miles: 4
Total Miles: 1284
We had a great night of sleep and a relaxing morning of getting packed up. We took the time to eat cereal for breakfast (we usually just eat a bar as we pack up) and MountainMan played us a favorite song of his in the opera genre (he started college as a music major focusing on opera).
We only had four miles to get into town and they were all downhill. The trail was quite nice with lots of switchbacks which made the grade really mild. There was quite a bit of poison oak lining the trail for the last mile or two. We tried our best to avoid it, but for sure our poles touched it multiple times.
When we got into Belden, we headed straight for the restaurant to get breakfast. Even though we had eaten in camp less than two hours earlier, we were all ready for a big breakfast. We had no trouble cleaning our plates.
After breakfast, we got rooms in the resort and started in on the town tasks of showers and laundry. Since we had just showered two days ago, we didn’t feel too dirty, but the shower felt good.
Since this resort doesn’t have wifi (they have exceeded their monthly GB allowance, so no wifi), or cell service or TV, it is going to be a very quiet and relaxing day. Luckily there is a pool table and ping pong table to keep us occupied. We’re pretty happy for (almost) a full day off. And the cherry on the top…Gazelle will catch up with us tonight, so we get to hike with her again.
