Good day off in Snoqualmie yesterday. We got most of our errands and tasks accomplished, caught up with some friends and family via phone calls, and got to spend some time with Gazelle on her birthday since she caught up to us in town yesterday. We also bought a bunch of hammock building materials to have sent to Mountain Man’s house in Seattle. We will have a mini sew-a-thon after the trail.
In Snoqualmie, we received some more cool weather gear, rain pants and mitts in preparation for possible cold rainy weather. Now that we have that gear, the forecast looks quite good. We guess getting the stuff sent out was our good weather insurance policy.
We decided to take the old PCT out of Snoqualmie on what is called the Goldmyer Alternate. This alternate goes through the Alpine Lakes Wilderness and follows a beautiful, clear river for a good portion. It was a beautiful day, and we passed Snow Lake in the morning. It had a very Sierra Nevada like feel with the lake set in amongst the rocky terrain of the area.
The walking was quite varied today. Some of it being quite rocky and technical and other smaller portions being very smooth and soft . On the whole, it was harder walking than what we are used to on the PCT, but a nice area to walk through all the same.
Today was our first day with Gazelle in a couple weeks, so we got caught up on her hike and latest goings-on. It is good to have her back with us and we are glad that she will be with us through the end going forward.
