Dry night with warmer air last night… Not too warm, not to cold, perfect. It was nice to put away all of our gear with it being perfectly dry – the small luxuries.
Today had walking very similar to yesterday’s, in and out of the woods along small ridglines and winding over mountain humps that’s were being logged on a clearly on-going basis. We had some views of Mt Rainier and some craggy peaks about 50 out in the distance, but that was about it. Lots of up and down terrain, but nothing terribly rugged.
We had lunch at a spring and had more of a chance to chat with Navigator, a hiker from Ireland that has hiked in a variety of places around the world (Finland, Iceland, Sweden, New Zealand).
The afternoon brought more trail magic. This time from The Stumbling Norwegian and his wife Honey Bee. We had met these two on the Wonderland Trail in 2014, and Beardoh had me The Stumbling Norwegian in 2012 at the PCT Kickoff Party. Pretty crazy how small the hiking world can be sometimes. They had a canopy tent set up and we’re making burgers as well as giving out sodas, beer, chips, cookies, etc. It was excellent. We have some friends in common and folks that they had met through doing Trail Magic that we also know – right down to our good friends and neighbors who live just a few miles down the road from us in NH (Forever and Ever). Craziness. These moments that give us the ‘small world’ feeling are so fun.
