Cool overnight with light rain and water blowing off the trees. We were in the cloud and woke in the cloud. Sweetpea didn’t sleep to well with the noise of the rain – it was big droplets sporadically hitting our tarps in an other wise quiet atmosphere.
Walking, we got our legs pretty wet, and temps were in the forties. As the day went on, it rained and never warmed up very much, so we were cold and wet, and wore our rain coats and wind pants all day long.
While we did not have views, we did have some of the best huckleberry picking to date. The berries were big, ripe and sweet.
At lunch time, we set up the tarp and all had a hot meal to try and stay warmer.
On a side note – we are enjoying have a stove, pit and cook system in general. We are getting a nice warm meal once per day and the change has been nice. We have even cooked tea – ahhh, the luxury. The system we are using utilizes an alcohol stove, Caldera cone, and titanium pot. So far, so good.
Tonight we are camped near Scarface, a British hiker we have just started seeing as of yesterday. Our tarps are up as we are still in the cloud and the wind is still blowing a good bit or water off the trees. Also, we are not completed juiced it will be an evening without rain. We got into our hammocks quite early (before 7) and ate separately as we wanted the warmth of our sleeping bags.
