Started the day with a stream fjording. Maybe knee high at the most. Climbed for an hour or so of the morning before getting to a long meadow, which we walked in for a few hours. I felt somewhat sore till mid day, and then was ready to move a bit faster. I think yesterday was just a hard day…
Mosquitoes were bad for the entire day. Had my headnet on or had it at the ready all day long. Now, as I write this in the evening we are up on a ridge, with no water around, wind blowing, and the mosquitoes are still bad enough to need the net. I had laid everything out to cowboy camp, but ended up putting up my tent to have the bug protection. At least they are not as bad as last night.
The view from where we are camped is excellent. Nice view of the mountains, where there is still snow in patches.
We left Yosemite national park today. We could actually notice the change rather quickly. The trail was built and maintained much better, blow downs were tended and the trail was not built on the fall line, so less erosion…the afternoon miles went faster because of it, and certainly less ankle rolling.
Just the four of us at camp tonight. Throughout the day we saw (in addition to the folks we camped with last night), Sunny D, Purple Stuff, Atlas and about 6 section hikers.
