Grabbed our continental breakfast at the motel, and then Wolfpack and I headed out to the road to look for a hitch back to the PCT. We were very lucky. We hadn’t even walked to the spot where we thought would be a good thumbing spot (place with a reasonable shoulder for a car to pull over) when a pickup truck pulled up and asked if we needed a ride back to the trail.
Good day walking again. Had some cloud cover which kept the heat off us. Walked by a damn that was pretty interesting to check out. Much of the afternoon and evening walking was through manzanita and other plants that had over grown the trail. This really beat up our legs. It was the first time that I wish I had pants since I switched a few weeks ago to running shorts. Lots of poison oak near the trail today, having to be pretty careful.
Didn’t see any other PCT hikers until the late afternoon, after 6pm. Ran into Nancy, One Pole, Big Bird, Derek B, and Maple. (Big Foot Jim….if you are reading, it is the same One Pole that was out last year).
Tonight I am camping alone. The campsite marked on the map didnt have any trees suitable for hammocking, so I walked a 1/2 mile further to where I could set up both the hammock and tarp…we may get rain tonight.
