Beautiful day again. Got some views from a lookout tower that was just 2 miles from where we had camped. Clouds were laying in the valleys.
Caught up to several southbounders that had started a bit before us, so we had been reading their shelter register entries for some time now. Met Columbus, The Abondonator, Crinkle, Hiccup and Mismatch. Met all these folks on the trail and then everyone made it in to the Inn at Long Trail for dinner and beer.
We had sent food to Killington and picked it up at the outfitter in town. Getting lifts in and out was tricky.
Beardo believes that there is a trend. If the vehicle is a pickup, the chances of getting picked up are much more likely. When considering all of the lifts that we have got on the trip, all but one were in pickups. If it is a 2000 or newer Audi or the like, we don’t bother. It is an interesting thing to consider, take from it what you will.
The Inn was a nice place to stay. The food was quite good, and they poured Guinness the correct way. It was also great to hang out with other thru-hikers in the bar setting.
We are still feeling pretty strong. Our feet hurt quite a bit at times, especially on mornings when we did not sleep in our hammocks (which elevates our feet), but other than that the miles are coming a bit easier.
