SweetPea and I are big fans of podcasts. We like to listen to them while on hikes, driving, or when out on a walk around home. One recent discovery for us has been the Mtn Meister Podcast. The podcast is hosted by Ben Schenck (based out of Boston, MA) with typical episodes are 30-45 minutes in length. Ben features a variety of outdoor athletes: runners, climbers, alpinists, cyclists, and ultimately – what drew us to the podcast – long distance hikers. I think listening to these podcasts is particularly fun when we cannot be out on the trail or we have a little bit of cabin fever. Most of the guests are people who have cut their own path in life and have an adventurous spirit…fun listening.
Mtn Meister Podcast’s featuring people from the Long Distance Hiking Community:
Here are some episodes that we’ve enjoyed. You will probably recognize some of these names:
HEATHER “ANISH” ANDERSON – Recent unsupported record setter on AT and PCT.
ANDREW SKURKA – National Geographic Adventurer of the year (2008).
SHAWN ‘PEPPER’ FORRY – First successful winter PCT thruhike.
COLIN ARISMAN – Storyteller and PCT thru-hiker who created the film Only The Essential.
TREVOR THOMAS – AT (2008) and PCT (2009) thruhiker who completed both hikes blind.
