Quite a day today. One of my most enjoyable. Got up and rolling out of camp around 6:45. Udi and I got on the wrong trail fairly early. There are a lot of cross trails and we went straight when the PCT took a 90 degree turn at one of them….and the same blaze that denoted the PCT beginning in the Sierras was used on the side trails. After a couple miles we figured out that we were on the wrong trail, and figured out an alternate way to meet up with the PCT instead of backtracking.
Along all this we walked by a myriad of lakes and ponds similar to yesterday. The mosquitoes were quite aggressive in however. Around noon we came out to the first wide open area that we have seen in some time. A great view of the first of the Sisters mtns that we passed by today.
When we took our lunch break, JJ, Wolfpack, Qball and Malarky met up with us.
The next 14 miles were spectacular. We walked through a lot of snow…some that was probably over 6 feet deep. Fortunately it was nice and solid and we did not posthole. There were several beautiful meadows, a waterfall, and volcanic lava rock fields.
We ended the day with a couple glissades that we slid down on our butts for a couple hundred feet. Good fun, but cold and wet.
Have a nice campsite on a little ridge. Had a fire this evening and cooked up some Ramen on it. It is the four of us, and Udi, and Malarky.
