Had a good first night sleeping in the hammock. Great to watch the stars as I drifted off to sleep. Had deer in camp again last night making noise. Not sure if they are attracted to the food or what, but it is odd. Pack up this am was really quick with the hammock. I left my sleeping bag in the hammock and put the underquilt in the hammock and stuffed them all into one stuff sack…takes my tear down time down to under three minutes and it is pretty efficient with space on my pack as well.
Great walking today. Trail has been cared for well here. Had a dry stretch of many miles, but the air temp was cooler than yesterday, so it want too hard to handle. Decent amount of views, with several of mount Lessen, but also quite a bit of walking in the shade.
Walked and talked with Just John, who is from the UK but lives and works in NYC…also saw Data, Freebird, Bees, and Robocop during the day.
JJ, Wolfpack and I hit the midway point of the PCT this afternoon ( Qball had moved on ahead earlier today to make it into town to get snow food). Pretty exciting. From here it becomes more of a countdown, and folks will start putting in more miles…calculating the ‘what if we go xx number of miles everyday, we will finish on xx day’. We have begun to do it as well. Anything can happen, so it is good to not get to invest ed in the What Ifs…but its fun to talk about.
Tonight we are camped really close to a small creek that I can hear babbling away as I write. Should be a good nights rest…hopefully the deer will go elsewhere tonight.
