Wind blew most of the night, but I was still able to sleep well. Got an early start walking at 6.
Very beautiful in the am walking, with the light coming over the mountains. We walked along a lake for several miles. There was a campground a few miles in, which gave a chance to clean up.
We came upon some trail magic in the form of apples along the trail.
We pushed hard to get to I-15 as there was a McDonald’s and a Chevron station. That provided a nice treat for lunch as well as a place to get water in what had otherwise been a pretty dry stretch. We did 19 miles by to arrive there by 12:30. Probably the fastest we have hiked on the trail yet.
After a few hours of hanging out there, we headed back up into the mtns for a final 5 files for the day and camped at a water cache that a local woman maintains. Really great to have this water here, as the stretch would be over 21 miles without water.
Saw several snakes, no rattlers.
Tonight we are camped near Blueberry, Skippy, Chimp, Spork, Tangent, and Holstein. There are some lawn chairs here and we are sleeping in them. Can hear coyote pups yiping close by.
