Got an early start and was out of camp by 6. Quite good weather for most of the day…we had a real hard climb for the first three hours and gained several thousand feet of elevation.
Once we were up to 8-9000 feet it was just rolling for the day up high. That made temps cooler than yesterday and pleasant hiking.
Views were great today….landscape was quite stunning. We were in large growth Cedar forest much of the day. Big trees without much undergrowth made for intermittent shade and great surroundings.
Hiking around much of the same folks that we had met over a week ago.. there are about 20 people in the campsite tonight. Had a 15 mile stretch without water leading up to here, so that is one reason for the large group. Also, there was some great trail magic here. A couple hikers brought out hot dogs and beer and soda….super good.
There was more trail magic about 5 miles before the campsite where there was a couch sitting out in the woods with a cooler of cookies and sodas…so pleasant to run into the kindness.
