Slept in. Really slept in. I think we were all waking and crawling out of our bags around 7:15. Two hours later than normal. Since Qball hadn’t been feeling good the evening before, we decided to just skip our alarms and get more sleep. Also we could grab a little bite to eat at the fish lake resort if we waited till 8.
By the time we got walking it was pushing 10… No luck hitching the couple miles back to the trail, so we walked along the highway.
I walked for most of the morning with Eduardo and Carlos, and enjoyed chatting with them. It was fun talking with them as they have lived many years in both Mexico and the US, and Eduardo now lives in Montreal.
The walking was very smooth for the majority of the day…a little bit walking through rock slide areas, but most of that was well maintained.
For the first time in a couple weeks, I didn’t feel so sleepy at noon time. This has been something that has been odd, an overwhelming desire to just take a nap in the middle of the day..maybe it is a bit of collective exhaustion, but most of the time, I feel good and have plenty of energy, but around noon lately, I am pooped. Maybe the extra sleep last night made today better. Will have to give that a try in the coming days.
With the miles we did with the late start, we didn’t get into camp till about 8. Tonight we are camped a bit higher, on a flat spot coming down the mountain, which should make for some cool sleeping weather.
