Late start at 8am today. Had breakfast at the shelter and chatted with Chillin’ and a couple section hikers.
Highlight for the day was passing through the famed Lemon Squeeezer. The Lemon Squeezer is in a section of slab rock that has a crevass-like formation. The picture will say it better.
For the most part today was dark out in the woods with heavy cloud cover. Pretty gloomy for the most part. We got rained on once while walking, but got our hammocks setup about a half hour before the rain really let loose in the evening. It is raining pretty good right now as we settle in to the hammocks for the night.
We camped near Wildcat shelter, so we cooked at the shelter. Just us here tonight. We know that there are others close, but as I write this and we near darkness, it is looking like they won’t make it in.
Once we left the shelter, we did not see any other thru-hikers today.
There was some trail magic today….a trail angel left some water in jugs for hikers…thanks!
Took it at a fairly relaxed pace today. Beardo did have some pain in his shin towards the end of the day. Sweet Pea’s hip did good.
Tomorrow we will head into Greenwood Lake for our maildrop and a possible snack in town.
