Had a nice zero day in Snoqualmie, eating, relaxing, getting clean. Best of all, Sweetpea came to visit!
Headed out this am in a misty cloud, which gave us a cool temps for the climb out of Snoqualmie. First part of the day was view-less because of the cloud we were in, but we got good views in the latter part of the day. Lots of lakes in this area, which gave the day a bit of a Sierra feeling. It is a pretty rugged landscape with steep mountain walls, lots of talus and boulder fields.
Saw several section hikers out in this area. There was one couple who had been picking away at the PCT for 28 years.
Ran into a trail crew that works for the Forest Service. We learned that while chainsaws cannot be used in areas designated as Wilderness, they can use explosives to blast trees out of the trail. Would like to see that go down.
I hiked with Qball most of the afternoon and having not caught up to Wolfpack by 5:30, we stopped at a campsite and made a fire and cooked our Ramen ( I add cheese to mine these days, which makes it taste remarkably good) and JJ rolled in a few minutes later and cooked with us. After we got the fire out, we walked on and up a fairly big climb for another 4 miles. Camped at a spot with a view of the valley.
Today marks 4 months on the PCT.
