Woke up early at 5:30, got breakfast and got a ride to the border. We somehow had 6 people and 1 dog in a Honda Civic for the ride down to the border.
Got to the border and took the obvious photo at the PCT monument as well as a photo touching Mexican soil under the border fence.
Saw border patrol a couple times during the day. Once was late in the day when they rescued a hiker that got dehydrated. It was a helicopter rescue and we walked up at the right time to see him escorted to the chopper.
Overall weather was great. It was warm and dry. Sweat would dry off really quickly after stopping for a break. I drank about 3.5 liters of water over the course of the day. Walked and talked with a lot of different people, which I very much enjoyed. Saw Clearwater, who was a campsite host at Spec pond on the AT last year. Met and chatted with Boomer, Maple, Challenger, Wrongway and several others. Everybody did the 20ish miles here to the campground. There are probably around 25 hikers here.
There were trail angels that stayed at the campground today and had chili and pie waiting for us….and soda and beer. Great end to the day.
