Good night of sleep in Trout Lake. Got a ride back to the trail from the owner of the groceries’ son in law. Good thing, as it may have been a tricky hitch back up to the trail in the am hours.
Really fine day of hiking. Once we made the big climb at the start, we had lots of views of Mt St Helens, Mt Adams, and Mt Rainier. The wildflowers were all along the trail today. Lupins everywhere as well as some other yellow and red flowers. Temperatures were cool. Probably highs in the 60s.
Took a few breaks today since we had the time. We decided to split a 2 day section (that would have been a strong push each day) into 3 days, giving us a more leisurely pace through the section.
Tonight we are camped with Calf, Clay and Itchy. Great spot next to a lava field and a spring. I have preemptively put up my tarp as its pretty cloudy.
