Great night of sleep. Did not get too cold, even at elevation. Met a couple hikers that had come into the same area to camp after we were all sleeping…..Argentina, Black Hawk, and Easy Miles.
The first ten miles of walking were up in the forest at elevation and beautiful…great walking with a bit of canopy. The last bit was on the other side of the mountains and was hot, dry and open. We were able to make our 15 miles by 11:30.
Our goal for the day was a road, that we had hoped would have more traffic than it did. We ended up walking 7 miles on the blacktop in 100+ degree weather. The hope was that the trail angel that maintains the water cache would know of a way to get into Lark Isabella where we were headed for resupply. She was home and offered to take us into town about 25 miles away….we were lucky.
Got into the Lake Isabella Motel about 4 o’clock. Room is good and is cool inside. The owner had a hiker feed tonight. Spaghetti and meatloaf, fruit, lemon merengue pie, and a bunch of other stuff. It was great. 15 hikers here tonight, surprised how many. All new people to us.
Sweet Pea just arrived! 🙂
