Got an early start out of Lake Moreno this am…up early at 5:30.
Great temps all day…worse in the sun, but never too bad. There seems to be shade frequent enough to take a break out of the sun if needed. While on the AT, I hardly wore sunglasses, here they are very necessary and worn pretty much all day. The goofy looking sunhat that I was a bit reluctant to buy has been great. Having a lightweight long sleeve shirt has been good as well. My only exposed area is my hands, so I dont have put sunscreen all over.
I have been adding Chia seeds to my water and along with an electrolyte tablet, I am feeling quite good…consuming roughly 4 litres of water per day.
Tonight at the campsite there are 11 of us. I am camped with JJ , Qball, Mellow Yellow, Wolfpack, Hi, Last Minute, David, On Time, Wrong Way, Skeeter. Really good group. Nearly everyone has thru hiked another big trail….no real newbies out here. Which brings up something interesting. Folks on the PCT have embraced ultralight backpacking…lots of light weight packs and tents…way way different than the AT.
Saw a rattlesnake and a bunny. The rattler was close to the trail. But we snuck buy…he rattled for a couple minutes.
Views were quite good.
