Beautiful light waking up today. Pink saying blending into the blue as I woke up.
Walked much of the day on gravel forest service roads today because of a detour that went around a burn area from an 09 fire. The poodle bush and poison oak was bad enough that they have rerouted the PCT. Even the areas that were not part of the detour had a lot of poodle bush on it.
We ran into a Korean tour group of about 30 up on top of one of the climbs. They were pretty interested in what we were doing and were giving us treats and candy. They had 6 of us hikers get in their group picture. It was pretty funny how much attention they gave us.
We had lunch near a memorial for 2 fire fighters who died up in the mountains fighting the fire from 09. The memorial was quite nice and overlooked a valley below.
We did a bit over 30 miles to get into the KOA campground. Here we could get a shower and order some pizza. A friend from the trail, Nugeo, who had gotten hurt last week, came by with his dad to hang out and bring treats and beer.
Pretty beat after the long day walking in the sun.
