Hiked the Kinsman Ridge today with Cueball. The walk had the North and South Peaks of Kinsman, which are above 4000′. The morning temps were cool and perfect hiking weather. We stopped at Lonesome Lake hut and got the breakfast leftovers, which were eggs, bacon, oatmeal and pancakes…perhaps one of the best breakfasts yet….albeit cold.
We had some decent views from the mountain tops. Lots of day hikers were out, which is not surprising as it is a Sunday. Saw a happy Boy Scout group and a very drained, sad Boy Scout group….they are probably still walking in the dark right now.
Checked out the Eliza Brook Shelter…probably one of the nicest construction jobs on a shelter that we have seen. It was all log and the fitting was very precise…probably laser or CNC cut…which is odd as they would have had to haul the logs up the mountain.
We ran into the Brothers, Flint and Steel as we came off the trail. Nice to see them again as we hadn’t for a few days.
