Daily Miles – 21
I have been looking forward to this pass. Muir Pass is one of my favorites in the Sierra Nevada. Beautiful lakes on both sides of the passes, and great and varying views on both the approach and descent. The pass was windless, very still.
I took a long break by one of the lakes where I had rested with my friends in 2012 on the PCT. It was great to sit in the sun and just take in the great views.
Evolution creek had only ankle deep water. I tried to rock hop but the rocks just weren’t there and I ended up getting soaked feet and then very muddy shoes in the next dusty miles that preceded my camp spot.
Tonight I am camped at a place next to the San Joaquin River. Same place from 2016 PCT hike.
