Daily Miles – 17
8am start today, slept in…even meditated before getting up and going. Knowing where I intend to hammock reined in the miles as I wanted to be in a place that had good trees.
Walked with a PCT hiker (from Switzerland) for a bit. He was headed into Bishop and walking 4 miles an hour….ahhh…the hurry for town.
Tons of hikers on trail around Rae Lakes and Glen Pass. Many are out for 2-4 days doing a look in the area. Good place to do…the lakes are gorgeous and Glen Pass is not a tough one.
I took a long break down at the one of the lakes north of Glen Pass and did full laundry in the lake – washed shorts, socks and shirt. Not as good as soapy wash in a machine, but definitely cleaner than before.
Walked across the big suspension bridge – I am blanking on the river crossing. It I surprisingly wobbly compared to some of the suspension bridges that we experienced in Canada.
Made camp by 5 at what I believe is one of the last well ‘treed’ areas for a few miles.
Will probably do a longer day tomorrow, maybe 24 miles to get closer to Bishop Pass as it is reputed hard and I’d like less miles to do that day.
Tomorrow is Pinchot and Mather. Lots of elevation gain and loss expected.
Camped alone, listening to Slayer at 7 in my hammock already and it’s pretty much dark.
