Big day of climbing. Up to 8500ish feet in the am, with about 5000′ of gain.
Water was tough. I went the whole day of walking on 3 liters. Typically, I want to have at least 1 liter per 5 miles, and with the big climb, more. While we were in an area with little shade for the climb, the temps were cool enough….so I wasn’t parched.
We had a detour on a forest service road to get around poodle dog bush. This is a very benign looking bush that apparently is quite abusive to the skin. There are some other bushes that have a similar look, so it isn’t obvious to all of us what it looks like.
The hiking day finished with Sweetpea picking us up at the Inspiration Point parking lot. She had sodas and treats for the hikers passing through. Great to see her waiting in the parking lot 🙂
