Woke up to a cold morning today. Definitely the coldest morning yet…didn’t want to put on our hiking shirts as they were still wet from yesterday’s sweat, so we decided to hike in our sleep shirts which were dry and therefore warmer.
Headed out for our short 10 mile day into Manchester Center. Had some rolling ups and downs and went over Bromley Mountain. Which had a tower on top from which you can supposedly see 5 states…not sure if we saw all five, but it was a clear day with nice views.
Made it down to the road before 11:00am and got a lift into town after trying for 15 minutes. Went to a Mexican restaurant for a big lunch and then headed to an outfitter in town which has a pedorthist in the hopes of resolving some of the foot pain issues that we are both having. Beardo’s new shoes that he got a little over a week ago are dying already. So, he got bright yellow shoes hoping that would solve the problem. We spent a lot of time with the foot guy, will see how it works out.
Stayed at the Green Mountain House Hiker Hostel. It was excellent. Very class act. Mostly northbounders staying there. They give a free Ben and Jerry’s pint of ice cream there. Ran into Peace of Cake at the hostel as well. Hadn’t seen him since Maine.
