Oct 25 – Into Knot Maul

October 25, 2011 by Beardoh

Little later start but still began in the dark this am… The day had a lot of ups and downs and the first 10 miles felt a lot longer than it actually was. We did have some good views from a grassy ridge that we walked over. Saw some deer, both does and bucks. Also some turkeys.

Water was scarce and it was hot and dry today adding to our exhausted feeling.

Mace sent word to us that he was not getting back on the trail. We are pretty bummed to hear this. We know he was loving it out here, and we really enjoyed our time with him.

Great hammock location with views over a valley tonight. Wish each night had hangs like this. Same group of guys at the shelter…fun to hang out with them when we get into camp.

Looking forward to staying at a motel tomorrow. Just doing 14 miles in, which will feel good.

Just passed the 75% completed mark!
