Very difficult sleep last night as we were close to an active train track….probably within 200 feet or less. The trains would hit their loud horn every time as they rolled through. Must have been 7-10 trains over the night. Mercy..
Rained right as we were packing up, and that was it. Day was almost sunny….cleared up nice in the evening.
Feet got a little wet walking the first mile as it was through grassy farmland. After that, most of the day was spent in the woods on small rocky mountains. Wasn’t much for views today but the walking was good. There were some ‘rock mazes’….really tall slabs of rocks in all positions. Kinda neat.
Ran into Purple and Carnivore today. We had not seen them since Gorham, NH. They are doing good and it was great to see them again.
We are near Pine Grove Furnace State Park. There is a sign here for the half way point, back from when the trail was shorter. We took a picture anyways. We should see this year’s true halfway point very soon.
Staying at a hostel next to the state park…it is right along the AT. Weird that few people stay here since it is not out of the way. It is clean and parts have been renovated but unfortunately doesn’t have laundry or a spaghetti supper feed as stated in the guide book. We are the only two guests here tonight.
Sweet pea isn’t feeling good, so she is already in her bunk at an early hour. Hopefully she will be better in the am.
