Nov 18 – Into Georgia

November 18, 2011 by Beardoh

Cold night last night had us in our sleeping bags for 12 hours…a record. We stayed reasonably warm, but some of our friends did not. It can be a long night, if you are cold.

Chipmunks were pretty active last night and were trying to get into the food bags. Sensei and Goldfish ended up pulling their foodbags into their sleeping bags. Easy got a new hole in his.

We got up late and were not walking untill at least 7:30…we only had 19+ today, so it wasn’t a problem.

Nice day with blue skies today. Trail was good for the most part as well. We had a fairly leisurely pace (relatively) for most of the day.

Had lunch with Sensei and Goldfish sitting in the sun right on the trail.

Lots of folks at the shelter tonight. Probably around 12. Many section hikers. Tomorrow we head into Hiawassee, and should be able to get breakfast in town as well as our last food drop.

Made it into our final state today, Georgia. Long time coming. Just 70 some miles left.

Daily Distance: 19.8
Trip Distance: 2,108.2
