Got warm again last night. Whole shelter woke up early…and headed out fairly early. One guy was up at 4:15 this am as he had ran out of food and wanted to get into town before his stomach knew better.
Gray all day, no wind, but a few sprinkles…temperatures remained good for hiking.
Quick miles down to Fontana Dam, where we got a great hitch in the back of a pickup (our favorite) into the village. We picked up our maildrop, which had arrived just that morning, and went down to a gas station/diner for lunch. Had some tasty pizza and nachos for lunch. The guy that had brought us into town waited around for us and gave us a ride back out to the trail.
Got back on trail a little after 1pm and hiked with Bobby and Alwin. It was somewhat slow going, as we had full bellies and the walking was mostly uphill.
We are the only ones at the shelter and it is 7, not sure if the others will make it or if they stayed in town.
Our friend Mace is having his knee surgery tomorrow. We hope it goes good! Get well soon buddy!
