The day after getting down to Independence, we caught the shuttle to Bishop to resupply and stayed in the Motel 6 in Bishop. The following day, Mace and Tom took the shuttle to Lee Vining and then to Yosemite to grab the car and drive it to Lone Pine so that it would be there for us when we finished the trail. We went with Mike back to Independence and stayed at the M.t Williamson Motel. Before heading over, we killed a couple hours in Taco Bell and had a nice time talking with Mike. The three of us later went to the Taco Truck in Independence for dinner. Mace and Tom stayed the night in Lone Pine and then came over to independence in the morning for a ride up to the trailhead.
Now, after two zero days, we were all rested up. We were finally all together at the Onion Valley trailhead again around 10:00. What a difference a few days makes. The sky was blue, the weather was warm and the breeze felt nice. We walked slow and steady and Kearsarge pass seemed so easy today. It was so nice out, we hung around up top for a bit and talked with the day hikers who were there. Then we headed down along some lakes and hooked back up with the JMT shortly after lunch at Bullfrog Lake which was beautiful.
We walked another four and a half miles and ended up at a great campsite along Bubbs Creek. We got to camp around 4:30 which gave us plenty of time to get our camp tasks done and have dinner together. We’re all in bed by 7:00 and it is feeling quite chilly and breezy tonight.
