Didn’t hear alarms at all, despite at least 3 of our alarms being set….and ended up starting more than an hour after our planned time.
Quick 5 miles into Erwin where we picked up a maildrop and tried to get a shuttle into town. Not sure where things broke down, but the hostel employee had told us he’d take us all in at 9, then left and came back at 11 as if we had not had the conversation. We ended up hitching in to town.
Had a good breakfast at the Huddle House. The others all needed to get food from the store, so we got a lift back alone to the trail and headed out back onto the trail around 12:30.
Lots of climbing for the afternoon, and had some nice views of the town and the mountains around it. Got to camp right at dark. Tonight is the first night that we set up our hammock tarp as our shelter. Pitched pretty low, we have a good amount of room side to side and length wise. Will see how it goes. We hope well as it is only 8 oz in weight.
