Full moon was very beautiful last night. Beardo stayed in the cabin shelter since his hammock wasn’t dry after the wash down yesterday.
Got an early start and were on the trail by 7am. It was a nice and cool start to the day. We were walking through low lands for the first few hours and went through the edges of some old farm fields which are quite picturesque in the early hours.
Mosquitoes kicked in around 10, but we began climbing to higher ground and escaped them. Ran into Phoenix, another southbounder just before our 2nd breakfast break. He had seen three bears at his campsite that previous night.
Great views from Highpoint State Park where there was an excellent platform where we sat in the sun for quite a while. Weather was great all day.
Early to hammock tonight as the mosquitoes at the shelter are nasty. Already hanging by 7.
Dog at the shelter tonight with a section hiker. Should be a good bear alarm if one rolls through.
Sweet P’s hip and Beardo’s shins both did good today.
