Got out of Mojave and back on the trail this am.
Had a big climb back up to 6000’ish. Once we were up there, it was pretty much just rolling up and down at that height for the remainder of the day.
Took a couple lengthy breaks. One of which I actually fell asleep. In the shade it was pretty comfy. When we are walking, the breeze makes all the difference, but any breaks that we take are always in the shade.
We walked on the edge of a wind farm for much of the day, and are camped pretty close to some turbines tonight. It is breezy now as I get ready to sleep…hopefully it won’t get too breezy as I am cowboy camping.
Wasn’t much water on the trail today…one long dry stretch. When we did get to the water at the end of the day, there were about ten other hikers there. One was a hiker that I recognized from the Appalachian Trail last year….Calf, a German hiker that we had met in Gorham, NH last July.
Most of the hikers at the watering hole were moving on for a few more miles. We found a pretty excellent flat spot on an old logging road above the water and decided to stay.
