Had a cool but rain free night. The rain started in the morning once we were hiking.
Made good time today, getting in 18 miles and a town stop which included a trip to the post office, a motel to pick up a maildrop (we didn’t stay there) , the drug store, and a Chinese restaurant. We got a hitch from the second vehicle that passed us and rode in the back of the truck…..brrrr.. but he took us all the way to the post office. Our hitch back to the trail was also in the back of a pickup. Both drivers were golfers wearing Titlest caps, go figure.
The terrain was pretty good today. There were a couple of steep climbs, but there were switch backs that helped. Saw lots of deer, some quite close.
One of the first nights that it was hard to find hammock sites. A combination of slope, not so great trees and poison ivy made it tricky. At the shelter, Mace, Moose, Right Click and Phoenix are all here. Good to chat and chill out with them before heading to sleep.
