Interesting night trying to sleep. Deer kept coming down to the campsite, which had a lot of blown sticks and twigs around it, so I woke up probably 6-8 times throughout the course of the night.
My ankle was still swollen (and still is now at the end of the day) when I woke up this am. It is not too sore and walking on it was not too painful. As long as I was landing square on my foot, it stayed at pretty much a dull ache. A couple times when I tweaked it sideways, when crossing a blown down tree in the trail, it stung quite a bit…but that was only a couple times. I have got some Ibuprofin from one of the other guys and have been taking that today to try to help bring down the swelling.
Terrain was good for the most part today. The temps were pretty hot, even at the highest elevations of the day.
The day ended with a swim in the middle fork of the Feather River. This is a fast moving river but it has some pools to swim in. Felt really good to lay down in the river and cool off. There is a beautiful footbridge that spans the river as well. We are camped at a great site right along the river, with Cool Ranch, Capitan, and Calf.
