Rolled out around 8am for the stretch into New York. Wet day as the storm approaches. Terrain was rolling and the last several miles were pretty easy.
Ran into a southbound friend, Columbus, that I hadn’t seen since Killington in the early afternoon and walked with him untill I got out to my roadcrossing for the motel. He was going to stay out in the woods for the hurricane. Something I just was not willing to do, not with the winds and the strong possibility of spending all Sunday wet, even if in a lean-to. Unfortunately, I couldn’t talk him into coming into town….hopefully he will be ok. It was great to run into him, he was the first familiar face that I have come across since getting back on the trail. Should see him again after the storm blows through.
Got into town in early afternoon, got my room and found a pretty excellent BBQ place. Not a ton of miles today, but enough to add up…felt shin splits in one leg – which I haven’t felt in years. The day off tomorrow should be helpful.
Connecticut has been a pretty good walk. The trail was well blazed, maintenance was good. Will see how New York treats me.
