Started out the day with a great waffle breakfast with bacon. Was cold heading out of the hostel….in the 40’s.
We unfortunately saw a deer get hit by a car. Three deer had come running up in a field quite close to us and were looking confused and generally freaked out. Less than a minute later, we heard car tires screech and saw the deer get hit 🙁
Rain started coming down and really cooling us off. We stopped for a snack at a shelter for about 15 minutes and had to just get rolling to warm up again. Hiked with our raincoats on for the whole day.
We headed to the Bear’s Den Hostel for the evening. That wasn’t part of the original plan, but with the poor weather staying in a warm place was quite appealing. Staying here with Mace and Carnivore/Purple and a couple section hikers. The hostel is cozy and a good place.
Unfortunately, tomorrow has more of the same weather predicted.
