Mosquitoes were ready for us when we got up…mercy. I had a decent night of sleep but woke up pretty sweaty in the middle of the night. Aching for a shower and clean clothes. Probably the longest stretch we have had…and I won’t mention how long that has been.
Had nice views for much of the day. The first part of the day we were mainly canyon walking, weaving in and out and over canyon passes. The afternoon we were walking on the Tahoe Rim ridge. Pretty as well, but not as many views yet, tomorrow should be neat as we get closer to the lake, should get some nice views of it.
Another day with trail magic. Garden Gnome’s mom was at the Carson Pass visitors center with a table full of fruit and sandwiches, chips, soda and beer. That was wonderful, we stayed there for a couple hours relaxing. These three days in a row of trail magic has been outstanding. We didn’t think there would be any more of it beyond the start of the Sierras, so we are very excited when these kind folks are out providing such a picnic.
Tonight there are about 20 of us camped just short of Echo Lake. People still rolling in at 8:30. Haven’t camped with this many folks in quite some time.
Saw tons of PCT hikers today…Freebird (who we have been hiking with quite bit lately) Garden Gnome, Day Man, Chris, Super girl, One ton, Sean, White Bear, Moonshine, High Life, Moss, and several other that I am blanking on at the moment. Seems to be a bubble here right now.
